In early 2024, a couple of my long-time buddies in the mobile tech world launched Clicks, a company that makes physical QWERTY keyboard accessories for the iPhone. We went hands-on with the device last year, but it remained an iPhone-only product until recently. Just last week, aClicks Keyboard for my Google Pixel 9 arrived and I couldn't wait to test it out.

This version of the Clicks keyboard incorporates the design improvements seen in the latest models, including improved ergonomic key design, data pass-through support, metal buttons on the side, and a new Clicks smartphone utility.
This is the first venture for Clicks into the Android market with models also coming soon for the Motorola Razr and Samsung Galaxy S25. Unfortunately, however, neither the Pixel nor the Galaxy models are available for the larger Pixel XL or Samsung Ultra phones that I have in my collection.
Clicks offers a physical QWERTY keyboard for your Google Pixel 9 smartphone, with more Android models coming soon.
The physical QWERTY keyboard and case experience from the iPhone models is the same for the Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, so all of the greatness of Clicks is ready to rock on a Pixel. A few options in the Clicks smartphone utility are different, however, including currency and Gemini settings. The most significant difference in the Clicks Keyboard experience is the advanced support in iOS for Shortcuts.
Android provides a vast amount of native shortcuts that the Clicks Keyboard can take advantage of, but these cannot be customized and there is no native macro shortcut functionality like we see with the Apple Shortcuts utility with advanced automations and capability.
Some of the Android shortcuts I have been using on the Google Pixel 9 include:
While not exhaustive, to access a list of shortcuts in Android, go to Settings > System > Keyboard > Physical keyboard > Keyboard shortcuts.
I also suggest that you search for more of these online since many of the Android shortcuts available with Clicks are found inside specific Google apps. I would love to change the E key to G for Gmail and some of the other options, but that does not appear to be possible in Android.

One of the major benefits of a Clicks Keyboard is the ability to hide the on-screen keyboard and view data on the full screen of your smartphone. With Clicks on the Pixel 9, I have a display experience even better than a Pixel 9 Pro XL without a Clicks keyboard while also benefiting from a fun physical keyboard that brings back a bit of the past.
Using the spacebar to jump down websites a page at a time, and Shift > spacebar to move up, has made browsing Chrome a pleasant experience where I don't have to swipe across the display. I'm getting faster at typing with the Clicks Keyboard and thankfully, the keyboard entry layout and feedback are the same on iOS and Android, so I can now improve across platforms.
The Clicks Keyboard for the Pixel 9 does make your smartphone long and a bit unwieldy. As I enter shorts season, this will clearly prompt me to leave the keyboard behind. I hope to soon test out the Clicks model for the Motorola Razr since my 2024 Razr Pro is my summer season smartphone and having a RazrBerry in my pocket could be perfect.
I tend to jump around between various Android smartphones and iPhones, but one reason I kept using an iPhone as my daily driver in 2024 was theClicks Keyboard . Now that Clicks is rolling out models for select Android smartphones, I can enjoy the physical QWERTY keyboard experience without having to give up on one of my favorite smartphone accessories.
